Week 9 and 10.

The end of term 2 means we’re halfway to becoming grade ones! How very exciting. The first 100 days of school will be over shortly, stay tuned for some exciting celebrations! These past two weeks we’ve been focusing on vowels and we will continue to do so next term. Vowels are so important because they’re in every word, apart from words with a y in place of a vowel, like my and try. Vowels make so many different sounds, but knowing there’s at least one in most words, (and in most syllables for that matter) really helps writers stop, listen and think about those middle sounds as well as the beginning and end sounds. We’ve also focused on the letter Bb, and the way we remember it’s direction is by knowing that the bat comes before the ball… We’ve been lucky to have a couple of ex-students return to our school for work experience and spend some time in the prep rooms helping us out. Thank you to Libby and Isabella; the last few days of term are always a busy spell and it was great to have extra assistance at a time when all the students were exhausted! We hope all students and their families have a happy and safe break and a restful holiday, so they are ready for some fabulous learning in term 3!
